The art of re-sizing an engraved promise ring is just another one of our specialties in the personalization engraving business. The most important thing to remember when stretching an engraved ring is never go beyond what the girth of the ring will handle. Meaning there is a formula for diameter vs thickness of a band and generally you don’t want to make the band any thinner than need be that is to say no thinner than one point five millimeter. So if you were to start out with a 2.25 millimeter thick band you should only size up by stretching .25 millimeter thinner for every .5 size larger, resulting in 1.5 sizes larger. Sizing a ring smaller down is not a problem either but no more than 1.5 sizes smaller. If your engraved ring is shrunken more than 1.5 sizes there will be warping or a curvature inside and outside of the engraved promise ring and possibly collapsing the inside engraving.
